Hai Long Offshore Wind (Hai Long) selected CSBC Corporation, Taiwan (CSBC) as the pin pile supplier for its 2A wind farm, and the two parties signed the fabrication contract today. CSBC will fabricate and deliver a total of 63 pin piles with its high technical proficiency and past experience. This contract marks another important milestone for Hai Long’s localization plan and symbolizes that the project is on the right track.
The total capacity of the Hai Long Project is 1044MW, located around 50 kilometers off the Changhua coast, with water depths of up to 55 meters. CSBC will deliver the pin plies specifically tailored to accommodate the characteristics of the seabed and the conditions of the Hai Long 2A wind farm.
This is the second pin pile fabrication project undertaken by CSBC. With their experience, CSBC is able to ensure that the pin pile meets the demanding standards and requirements of the Hai Long Project. The collaboration between Hai Long and CSBC is another major step in Hai Long’s localization plan, as well as a key milestone for the integration of CSBC’s business and the offshore wind industry. CSBC is getting closer to completing its business reach in the offshore wind scope.
Felipe Montero, Project Director of Hai Long said, “We’re delighted to see CSBC become a member of Hai Long’s supply chain. This marks another important milestone of localization that our project has achieved. As part of the CDWE consortium, CSBC is already one of the main suppliers of Hai Long and one of the most reliable local suppliers of the project. CSBC’s solid capabilities and experience give Hai Long great confidence to meet our localization commitment for pin piles.”
Mike Chou, Executive Vice President of CSBC said, “CSBC has been tasked to localize marine constructions of offshore wind farms in Taiwan. As such, CSBC will be providing high-quality products for the offshore wind market based on the high-level technologies CSBC has developed over the years. Moreover, CSBC has extensive experience designing and manufacturing excellent steel structures and applying anti-corrosion technologies. The pin piles of the Hai Long project require not only the fabrication of steel structures but also the anti-corrosion painting that was not applied in the former project. For the Hai Long project, CSBC will collaborate with its daughter company CSBC Coating Solutions Co., Ltd. (CCSC). With CCSC’s expertise and several years of experience in hull coating, combined with the track record of underwater foundation coating for the previous project, CSBC is confident in completing the task Hai Long has entrusted to CSBC. In addition to producing pin piles in-house, CSBC has also decided to collaborate with APEX Wind Power Equipment Manufacturing Company Limited. (APEX Wind) according to the results of other local suppliers’ site visits and audits and the Employer’s approval, establishing a pin pile supply chain to increase production capacity and deliver on time. CSBC is confident that CSBC and APEX Wind will work together to complete the important task of delivering pin piles to Hai Long Wind Farm on time and of optimal quality.”
