Hai Long Contractor Safety Day: Partnering with Contractors and Suppliers to Commit to Workplace Safety Standards

The Hai Long Offshore Wind Project (Hai Long Project) held a "Contractor Safety Day" workshop today, bringing together 10 key contractors and suppliers to share experiences and learn from each other. The event featured discussions on the importance of workplace safety and included two keynote speakers. All attendees signed a safety declaration, committing to prioritizing health and safety, and working together to create safer working environments.

The Hai Long Project aims to strengthen the focus on safety throughout the wind farm construction process by collaborating with team members and key contractors and suppliers, sharing experiences, and adopting the highest safety standards. The project firmly believes that deepening partnerships is the key to creating a safer work environment for all members.

The workshop agenda, organized by the Hai Long Project, included an "Impact Session," where participants explored the implications of safety issues and how they can drive positive change. The event also introduced the "Hai Long Project's Six Golden Safety Rules." with two external expert speakers facilitating the sessions.

One of the keynote speakers, Dylan Skelhorn, shared his personal story from 2011 when a lack of proper safety precautions led to a fall from height, leaving him reliant on crutches for the rest of his life. His story served as a powerful reminder to all attendees of the critical importance of workplace safety.

Chris Harvey, the Hai Long Project's HSSE Director, expressed hope that the "Contractor Safety Day" workshop would bring together team members and key contractors and suppliers to reflect on the past and look ahead to the future. Through various activities, he aimed to remind all attendees of the importance of safety and the need to uphold the highest HSE standards to ensure a safer work environment for everyone.

The Hai Long Project invited 10 major contractors and suppliers to participate in the event, including CDWE-DEME Wind Engineering-DEME Group, Century Wind Power Co., Ltd., CWind Taiwan, OSRL, PTSC Mechanical & Construction, Seaway 7, SEMCO Maritime, Siemens Gamesa, SK oceanplant Co., Ltd., and TECO Electric Limited.

At the end of the event, all participants signed a safety declaration, committing to prioritizing health and safety in their operations and work collaboratively to create safer workplaces. This brought the "Contractor Safety Day" workshop to a successful close.
