HAI LONG HAS SELECTED SAMKANG M&T THROUGH ITS SUPPLIER CDWE. CDWE SIGNED EXCLUSIVITY CAPACITY AGREEMENT (ECA) FOR THE PROVISION OF OFFSHORE WIND FARM JACKETS INCLUDING TRANSITION PIECE WITH SAMKANG M&T FOR THE HAI LONG 2B (232MW) & 3 (512MW) PROJECTS IN TAIWAN.
Hai Long Offshore Wind, CDWE (CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering Co., Ltd.) and Samkang M&T Co., Ltd. had an ECA signing ceremony in Korea on January 19th, and Hai Long announced that Samkang M&T was selected as the preferred supplier for Jacket Foundation by CDWE, and it would supply Jacket Foundation to Hai Long 2B & 3 projects, which are not bound by localization requirement, until December 2024.
The Hai Long wind farm will be built around 50 kilometers off Taiwan’s coast, in water depths of up to 55 meters and is one of the largest offshore wind farms in Taiwan with a total capacity more than 1 GW. Samkang M&T will supply a total of 52 Jackets.
In particular, the jacket foundation to be supplied is the largest Taiwanese offshore wind farm foundation ever that supports 14MW turbines per unit, exceeding 94 meters in height and weighing up to 2,000 tons with all supporting equipment installed. Song Moo-suk, chairman of Samkang M&T, said, "We are very pleased to be able to supply jacket foundation to the Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm, which will be the largest in Taiwan."
Marco Kanaar, Project Director of CDWE, indicated, "Again a very important key milestone is reached with the selection of Samkang M&T as preferred supplier for the 52 jackets required for the HL 2B and 3 sites. We are very glad that CDWE, in close cooperation with the Hai Long team, is moving on a steady pace and on schedule with its procurement program for the Hai Long project."
Felipe Montero, Project Director of Hai Long and Head of Northland Power Taiwan said, "We’re delighted to have selected Samkang M&T as the preferred supplier for this scope for Hai Long, which is one of the biggest contracts for the construction of our project and one of the biggest contracts for fabrication of jackets ever. Seung Soo Han, Korea Country Manager for Northland Power, remarked "We would like to extend our congratulations to Samkang M&T and other local Korean firms which collectively will supply components, equipment and other materials to the Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm where Northland Power is a majority shareholder, thereby contributing to further development of Taiwan’s offshore wind power landscape." He continued, "Northland is concurrently engaged in the development of utility-scale offshore wind power projects domestically, so we look forward to continue building upon existing relationships with Korea-based manufacturers and suppliers."
